Beach Trip Essentials

Hello beauties, I hope you had a great 4th of July!

Summer is the official season for travel, at least it is in my book! And there’s no vacation better suited for summer than a beach trip to the sandy shores of just about anywhere! Whether you are on the East or West Coast (or a lake or pond in between), there are endless places to kick back, relax, and enjoy the ocean waves crashing against the shoreline. Just the thought of it alone has me craving a beachy cocktail. 🙂

I’m sure many of you will be gracing a beach with your presence this summer, and that’s why I thought it’d be helpful to pull together some of the essentials that are must-haves for your beach trip. Besides the usual no-brainers like sunscreen and plenty of fashion magazines to flip through, there are many other things you need to stow away in your weekender bag to ensure you enjoy your beach trip to the fullest. Whether it’s a flirty cover-up or the perfect sun hat, here are the beach trip essentials you will not want to leave home without.

1. A trendy monokini

One-pieces are officially back in style, and I know I’m not the only one who’s thrilled about their revival. Now, we get even more options for swimwear besides the standard bikinis, and quite honestly, a lot of the monokinis are even sexier than two-pieces! Trendy cutouts and stylish lace-up details are a couple styles to keep an eye out for when searching for the ideal Instagram-ready one-piece! You won’t be disappointed! 😉

2. A beach-to-bar cover-up

What’s the point of a vacation if you can’t fly by the seat of your pants with no caution to the wind? The carefree summer vibe makes me feel like I shouldn’t have to feel too set in strict plans, and that’s why it’s best to be ready for anything. On your beach trip, bring a fabulous cover-up that will take you from beach to bar. There are plenty of ideas on Observer.

3. A trusty, woven beach bag

No beach trip is complete without a straw valise to tote your beach day essentials in. Having a fuss-free woven beach bag on your arm can double as both a functional tote for your shades and reading materials, as well as a cute coastline accessory for when you walk about town to hit up all the little shops. A carry-all is a must to ensure you never forget anything while you’re out and about, so you might as well make sure it’ll match your seaside style!

4. An easy, breezy maxi dress

Nothing says “beach days” quite like the quintessential maxi dress that flows in the wind. For a truly tropical feel, I like mine with playful floral prints. You can opt for either tropical flowers or a more romantic bohemian style – both would be perfect and so easy to wear to a beachside dinner. Lyst has a whole page dedicated to maxis if you need some inspiration.

5. A simple sun hat

Last but not least, you’ll need the sunshine accessory that’s both fashionable and functional: a sun hat. Although these are definite “dos” for any beach trip, if you’re flying, it can be difficult to find one to fit in your suitcase without crushing its shape. Travel + Leisure’s list is a helpful resource if you’re looking for a simple sun hat without the hassle!
