As I’m writing between the lines to get this post out, I have tons of other things on my to-do list that need to be done. Will I get it all done today? The truth, is I may not get it all done today, but I will still have the things I haven’t been able to crossed off the list on my next to-do-list until I meet my goals. Sometimes, I may even shift things around due to certain circumstances after I determine which needs to go first or which one can wait. See where I’m going?

One question I’m often times asked is: “How do you do it, Edwige? How do you balance it all… ?” The truth is, I don’t! Yes, I’m wearing a lot of hats right now, and I get that I probably make it all look easy. But is it really easy? No, it’s not. That’s a discussion for a whole ‘Nother day. Lol.

“Why do I say I don’t balance it all, yet I seem to make things look easy?” you would ask. Well, “Balance” is defined as a condition in which different elements are equal or in the correct proportions. So it’s safe for me to say that I don’t live a balanced life right now. Everything that I have going on right now is not “balanced”- that is far from the truth.

From experience and from what I have learned throughout the years, especially in my blogging and entrepreneurial years, it is not about balancing it all, but rather about prioritizing. And to the people who often asked “how do you balance it all”, that is always my answer; I don’t balance! I prioritize… And since I believe that “passion” is our driven force, don’t be surprised if the word passion, somehow finds its way to that response.

In all seriousness, I don’t think there’s such a thing as “balance it all” at least not to me in this period of my life. It’s all about making certain things a priority at different moments, as long as it is in synchronization with my life’s events and in accordance with my partner and my family.

At this moment, I’m writing this blog post, and making sure it goes live at a certain date and time, and that’s my priority at this time. My next goal is to take a little breather after completion of this task and then serve dinner in about an hour and a half… That will be my priority, then. So basically, each moment, each day, each week or month or even year is called for different priorities; and in order for me to achieve my goal, I set these priorities forth.

prints-dashiki-maxi-dress

I can guarantee you that, it’s not always as smooth or easy as I sound right now. Sometimes, I would have tons of things on my agenda that need to be done in a certain period of time or a due date; and that would be one of those days or weeks that seems almost impossible to meet, let alone exceed any expectation, but like I mentioned earlier, when those moments of frustration arise, I would need to sit down and really study my agenda and shift my priorities around in order for me to achieve my goal(s).

Things can get really overwhelming and stressful; and I think I will go crazy if I try to “balance” everything all at once. Or maybe that’s me balancing it all, doing what I believe works best for me and my family? Ultimately, we can only do so much; and I’m learning to take that step back and re-evaluate everything when needed.

Let’s talk about this dress! I know you were all wondering if I would ever get to it. 😛 Well, here we are!
It’s called Oye Maxi Dress, and I’m here for it! Merry, the brain behind the brand Nomose Couture  has done an incredible job with this off-shoulder maxi dress.

I have seen the short and top version (which are both cute), but I’m obsessed with this maxi version! I feel I can style it over and over and still reach out to it without hesitation. I could go one or two size smaller but it doesn’t take away from the dress.

It comes in a few other fabrics which are all beautiful and difficult to choose from. I’m contemplating getting this dress in one of the other fabrics… what do you say? A lady can’t have too many dresses, right? Hahaha. -This dress is selling out so fast and I know they just restocked again, so if you want one, go grab yours before you regret it. 😉

Today’s post was another long one, and thank you very much if you made it to its end. So, what are your thoughts about the topic of “prioritizing over balancing”? Does that sound about right to you? Let me know in the comment session below.

Do you guys notice that the temperature is starting to drop on most days now? Sooner than later, we are going to welcome Fall in all its all; and I think it’s no better time than now to take out these transitional pieces waiting for so long in your closet. Kimonos have been a huge trend this Summer and I don’t think it’s going anywhere anytime soon. Kimonos, especially long ones are perfect transitional pieces. Not too heavy, not too light. Just perfect for the layering seasons; and I took this one out for a spin a few days ago on a casual Sunday.  Anyone else feeling blessed and anointed? I sure am! This T-shirt is one of the 3 that I customized at Customized Girls… And this cute flower statement necklace I will tell you more about it in another post 🙂 -What are your favorite transitional pieces?

What I love the most about this paisley maxi dress is how versatile and comfortable it is! Yes, the red and plum paisley print is beautiful; and the removable scarf is a nice addition, but when I laid my eyes on this dress, I immediately fell in love and saw myself wearing it with flip-flops to a barbecue or heels to a Summer wedding! Now this dress wouldn’t necessary be my type of dress as a wedding guest, but sometimes a girl just wants to be simple, comfortable, and down to earth without necessary sacrificing (her) style.

I was hesitant at first when I styled it for a friend’s wedding last August, but it felt so comfortable and forgiving that I didn’t even want to change it into something more formal and sophisticated. I Absolutely love this dress.

It is incredibly flattering with the empire waist; and I am glad the shoulder straps are adjustable. The fit was perfect, not too tight in the bust since it has a big elastic panel in the back. And guess what it has pockets. Pockets make every outfit perfect, right? 🙂

As you can see, I kept the accessories to a minimum and used the scarf as a chocker for that interesting and chic vibe.If you’re going for a more fun or that bohemian look, you can tie the scarf in your hair or you can use it as a ‘belt’ to cinch your waist for that define look or you can just ditch the scarf altogether, if you don’t feel it. Versatile much, right?

The funny thing is when I tried this paisley maxi dress on in the store, the sale lady oohed and aahed and said I looked like a goddess; and I just smiled and said ‘thank you’, thinking to myself she just wanted to make her sale… 🙂

Ironically, the day I wore this dress for my friend’s wedding, I received the exact same compliment from a complete stranger! 😀 Many others also commented on how pretty the pattern is and how beautiful I looked in the dress. I guess as the saying goes, sometimes, less is more. 😉

Yes it’s September, friends! I can’t believe it either, but here we are. This means Fall is around the corner and we’re saying goodbye to the hot days of Summer.

Casual-style-yellow-geneva-dress

NYFW (New York Fashion Week) will debut next week and the kids are also going back to school.  September is going to be another busy month, but I’m glad we get to enjoy a long Labor Day Weekend before the madness begins.

Today’s outfit, can be viewed as a transitional look to Fall. I have styled this exact same dress a few weeks ago, in a totally different way; and I loved how it turned out! – Check it out here 🙂 . –

Casual-style-yellow-geneva-dress

In today’s post, I’m sharing a casual take on the dress. A beautiful dress that can transition from a relatively semi-formal outing to any simple and fun gathering.

Casual-style-yellow-geneva-dress

I can also picture this dress in fabulous boots and a cute jacket in the Fall. Fall weather and Fashion got to be my favorite; and I’m sooo looking forward to it!

Now, this is completely off topic, but oh so relevant. The recent events in Houston have devastated so many; and while I don’t live there or have any direct family there, I do have friends and know many people there who have been affected by the hurricane.

I would encourage everyone to keep praying and sending positive thoughts to the people of Houston, but also to donate. Donate anything you can (big or small) to support those in need!

You can clean out your closet and drop off at a donation center or donate monetarily to an organization you trust. Every bit counts. A little bit can make a big difference. Prayer and action together are powerful!

And back to the outfit… What do you think of this casual take of the Geneva Dress? If you’d like to see how I styled it before, you can check out the post here, and share your thoughts with me. 🙂

Happy Tuesday guys!

This gorgeous one-sleeve Maxi dress really is a gorgeous dress. No pun intended! I first wore it to a friend’s 40th birthday party and then as a wedding guest in the same month. Ha! Don’t judge me, but that’s how much I love the dress!

When I told my husband that I was going to wear this dress again, just a couple of weeks after I wore it, of course he thought I was joking. Obviously, I wasn’t and he was actually pleasantly surprised. Go figure! (Smile)

Truthfully, I was convinced that I will not be seeing anybody I’ve already seen at the previous party anyway; but who really cares, right? We are so much concerned about what people would think or say that sometimes we really do miss out on some things in life. Things we love or would love to do. Be you, do you, and be happy baby!

Anyway, back to the dress… People have stopped me constantly to inquire about it, and I was more than happy to tell them that this gorgeous dress is from our collection at leffetglamour, and handed them my business card.  Yes! I always have one ready! The dress wasn’t the only hit. The mixed of pearl and crystal necklace set was another subject of conversation. Such a classic beauty!

Well, my friends, if you love this ensemble, you will love it even more when you’re wearing it! – off I go!
