Happy Wednesday beauties,

Do you remember when I share my excitement here about the Victoria Beckham collections for Target? Read all about it HERE! Well, this Summer Style Short Dress is a piece of the women collections.

Orange-and-black-Summer-dress

This little dress right here is one of my favorite from the whole collection. The color is so vibrant, and I think the scallops details on the top part of the dress is ultra-cute.

The flounce hem gives a bit of femininity and shape to the dress, which I think could have be maybe boxy if it wasn’t for that detail.

I was amazed by the fit and quality of this short summer dress designed by the Queen of Posh. I think she did an incredible job, making her collections very affordable and attainable to the rest of us!

This summer chic dress has become one of my favorite and I can’t believe how many compliments I’ve received every time I wear it.

The best part is when I tell people I got it at Target, I would see their jaws completely dropping. Lol – Unfortunately, the last time I checked, it looked like the collection was totally sold out or unavailable.

I’m just glad I was able to get my hands on a few of my top picks before they were gone!

Believe me, I could’ve made a “Haul” post or Youtube video out of them. Lol! Well, you will definitely see more of this collection here on the blog. Stay tuned! 🙂

For this look, I kept the accessories to a minimal and let the little summer dress speaks for itself.

My new favorite prints shoes were perfect on the dress. I think I’m loving these heels a little too much, but hey who can blame me? 🙂 You can get similar ones here

Well, I hope you love this look as much as I do. I can’t wait to share the other pieces of the Victoria Bechkam Collection with you!

If you were lucky enough to get yourself a piece (or a few) of this collection before it was sold out, I would like to know what you think about it. As you can tell, I’m here for it! 🙂

The emotion behinds this video, the story of this plane crash survivor will have you in tears! It’s a blessing and a gentle reminder to us all, that we should never take life for granted and every single day on earth it’s another opportunity for us to be grateful and strive to be and do the best we can. What’s your excuse? What’s my excuse? Every single ounce of breath that we take is sufficient enough to get us going and dream our wildest dreams.

Out of 109 people, Kechi was one of the only 2 survivors of the plane crash that had occurred on December 10th, 2005 in Nigeria. A tragedy that the nation has never forgotten. Even though doctors gave Kechi little to no chance of surviving her injuries, after numerous (about 70 in total) chirurgical interventions, Kechi fought hard for her life and pulled through! A miracle if you ask me. She now lives in Houston Texas with her mother, and is living a fulfilling life.

What we should take away from this story, beside the fact that miracles do happen every day, is that no matter what may have happened, no matter what we may be going trough, as dark as the future may look, as long as we’re still alive and well, we should never give up on our dreams and goals. We should always cultivate a mentality and attitude of gratefulness… Remember, it could be far worse. This young lady has been through a lot (and I’m sure she still is), but her courage, her perseverance, her faith, and desire to make lemonade out of the lemons life has given her took her where she is today… and where she’s going!

I’m living you today with this message in the hope that, Kechi’s story will move you and give you hope, and inspire you to go for that whatever dream you have deep in you. Watch the video below and see how she stuns the judges at America Got talents! 🙂 Enjoy!

Kechi is an inspiration for us all, and I admire her for her strength, determination and performance! I wish her the absolute best in life!

When I first read this essay that my 12 year-old middle schooler recently wrote for one of her assignments, I knew I had to share it… Not because I wanted to flaunt my kid’s intelligence or anything, but mostly because I appreciate her openness to life… and the mindset it takes to make it. Also, what kind of mother would I be if I wasn’t super-duper proud of my baby!? 😀  – And as you can imagine, with her beautiful smile on, she said “Yes!”, when I asked for her permission to share this with my readers.

It’s undeniable to me (and her dad) that my daughter is very smart and does great in school, but this moment of pride has more to do with her ability to smilingly write an essay on the subject of Moonshot thinking referring to the inspirations she sees around herself while remaining true to her own beliefs, and shortcomings as a pre-teen. Her words are put in a simple manner that gives you a basic idea of what she’s trying to get across. Take a look…

Moonshot Thinking by Pearla-Lynn Teko-Folly.

What is it?

I think that moonshot thinking is thinking beyond what you can do. Trying harder than you thought. Not giving up on what you believe can happen. Not letting go of your ideas.

Examples of Moonshot thinking.

Some examples of moonshot thinking are like when those men said “We’re going to put this guy on the moon!”. That shows moonshot thinking, because they didn’t know if it would actually work, so they said that because they believed that they could do it.

Who are moonshot thinkers?

One person that I think represents moonshot thinking is my mom, because she wanted to create her own fashion blog and an online clothing store, and she didn’t know if she was able to do it. Now, because she believed and worked hard for what she wanted, she has two of her own websites: her fashion blog and her online shop. She’s an entrepreneur and is working hard to grow her business. She is also a motivational speaker and she styles and decorates houses and plans parties. That’s because she didn’t give up, but she kept believing that she could and now she did.

Why is it important?

Because if you believe in yourself and try harder you will be a moonshot thinker; and if you are a moonshot thinker, you will see how that affects you and makes things easier for you in life, because you can think and plan further ahead, then you will finally reach what you were thinking or planning because you didn’t give up and didn’t stop believing.

How am I a moonshot thinker?

I don’t really think I am a moonshot thinker yet, but my parents inspire me to work on it; because I don’t really think ahead or farther in some situations. Like sometimes, I just like to think about what is going to happen later or after something else happens. For example if I were to go somewhere, I would probably be thinking about what is going to happen, what we would do because sometimes when I think ahead it makes me feel like it actually is going to happen but sometimes, I don’t because stuff don’t always happen the way you planned it to go.

***

Isn’t this precious!? An innocent mind like being so far ahead of what we, adults are trying to accomplish today. I cannot be more proud of my baby-girl, because this mindset this early in life will literally give her wings!!!

On a parting note, let me remind you, as I just noticed myself reading her essay, kids do see and hear what happens around the house. They see, notice, and have their parents’ attitudes and aptitudes! They see that passions, the belief to fuel them up, and the hard work that support them will ultimately pay off.

What’s your attitude around the house? What’s your attitude in times of crises? What are you showing and teaching your kids!?

Happy Monday and thanks for stopping by.

In a previous post HERE, I waxed poetic on the subject of dream killers, and quickly covered the reasons behind some of the different types of dream killers. I mainly pointed out the “external” dream killers and a simple way to overcome them and move on with our vision… Need a quick reminder? You will find (below) an extract from the article on the Dream killers shared with you a few days ago.

black-cap-polkadot-coldshouder-mirrored-sunglasses

“So what if you encounter any of these so-called dream killers?
Just put your blinders on. Let them judge and say whatever they want, but don’t argue. Don’t try to convince them, because you will never succeed. Let it go in one ear and out the other. Your best revenge is to get to work, doing what your heart, dreams, and mind are set on! Let your actions speak louder than your words.”

See, that’s actually the easy part when dealing with dream killers… Anything we can see in the “physical” world, we can pretty much fight and vanquish. It’s not as easy though, when it comes to that inner voice that tells you in a very quiet yet resounding tone that “You cannot do it”. That inner voice that asks you: “What if you fail?” That inner voice that always tries to convince you that “So and so tried and failed; what makes you think that YOU can!?” – That same resounding inner voice that makes you believe that “It’s getting so tough… Are you really cut out for this!?”

Yes, our number one and most dangerous dream killer is ourself; more specifically, our thoughts. The negative and most doubtful ones! The ones that play the most frequently and the loudest in our mind and that are easily fueled by the discouraging words and actions of the naysayers…

Let’s face it, the tumultuous times, just like the negative and defeating thoughts are going to come at one point; especially when the going gets tough, when business slows down, or simply when we get rejections… This is the very moment to safeguard your mind! Only feed your mind positive, encouraging, and empowering thoughts! And do this especially when you’re by yourself… You know what they say, “when you’re with others, watch your words, but when you’re by yourself, watch your thoughts!”.

Many would agree that the overflowing thoughts we have just relate to the importance of the endeavor we’re taking on. However, this process should be a balance of both positive and negative thoughts… the Pro & Con though process… the “hope for the best and plan for the worst” thought process. Unfortunately, as mentioned earlier, the negative ones play the loudest and overpower the positive ones.

However, as far as I’m concerned, the solution is quite simple. The same way we would beat the external dream killers (by changing their negative words and actions into fuel and motivation), we need to change our mindset so that the negative thoughts are sent automatically to the back of our mind. The positive, encouraging, and empowering ones have to always come up on top. “Progress is impossible without change; and those who cannot change their mind cannot change anything!”

Let’s change our mind, so we can progress past our inner dream killers… and accomplish great things!

Let’s change our minds to “I’m well able”, “All I set out to do, I can and will do!”, “No one can understand my vision as much as me or better than me!”, “I am my greatest asset!”, “This is my dream; I believe it and I’ll see it to fruition!”

Inhale confidence… Exhale doubt! Think like a winner! BE A WINNER!

“The reflection you see in the mirror is an image and a reflection of God. Remember who you are! if you ever need assurance of who you are or what you are made of, go and look in the mirror!”
