Spring is in the air!!.

Hello everyone!

I was going through my files and found these pictures that remind me of the beautiful season that we’re welcoming: Spring! This is one of my very first photo shoots for the blog, but… it never made it! You ask why and I can’t tell you exactly why they didn’t, but I remember at that time – August last year – when I started blogging, I was very hard on myself! I would find myself thinking and rethinking an outfit or being overly conscious about how I looked in certain clothes, or wondering if I posed well for the camera etc… Basically, looking for a little imperfection that will make me decide that the photos are not worthy of a blog post. Don’t get me wrong, I still do, but in a more positive way (please tell me I’m not alone 🙂 ) . Finding these pictures in my lost files, that I actually love (mind you) made me reminiscence these moments. I’ve come to understand that as much as we bloggers all want to entertain our audience in a positive light, perfection can be a thief of joy as it goes for comparison! As much as I find a lot of bloggers for being such a great inspiration, I strive to stay true to myself, kind to myself while enjoying the ride all the way! I have no doubt that this could be a tough crowd, but I’m prepared for the positive criticisms … and for that matter, the not so positive ones as well. But I have to thank you all for being such a great support system and allowing us all to express ourselves in different ways and a variety of styles! After all, isn’t this supposed to be a creative outlet, first and foremost?

Ces photos, retrouvées dans mes archives, m’ont fait penser au beau temps duquel nous nous jouissons ces jours-ci! Ce fut l’un de mes tous premiers photo shoots pour le blog, mais pour une raison ou une autre, je ne les avais pas partagé, et je ne saurai vraiment vous en dire le pourquoi! Cependant, je me rappelle qu’a l’époque, quand j’avais débuté ce parcours, j’étais bien dure et pas tolérante avec moi-même!  Je questionnais tout, de l’habit que je portais, à la manière dont je posais pour la photographie, trouvant a chaque fois quelque choses a redire! En bref, je recherchais trop la perfection. Croyez-moi, je me prends toujours la tête pour certaines de mes photos, mais plutôt en critiques constructives. Retrouvant ces photos “perdues ” que j’aime bien après tout, me ramène quelque mois en arrière et je peux vous dire que je suis arrivée à comprendre qu’autant que nous les blogueuses ou blogueurs voudrions avoir un impact positif sur notre audience, nous devrons savoir que la perfection ou la comparaison nous empêchent de nous réjouir de nos propre exploits! Aussi bien que l’internet est peuplé de blogueurs qui inspirent chacun de nous , il faut bien non seulement rester soi-même, mais aussi être tolérant envers soi-même. Je ne doute point que ce soit un monde très dur ici, avec parfois beaucoup de critiques, mais je n’en ai pas peur. Je voudrais quand-même remercier tout un chacun de vous pour ce système de support qui fait que nous nous apprécions les uns et les autres malgré nos divergences de personnalités et de styles. Après tout, ceci n’est-il pas un moyen de nous exprimer à notre gré?

    Thanks so much for sharing this post, Edwige! I wholeheartedly agree that comparison and perfection are the thiefs of joy! I too have times where I am super critical of my blog photos and contemplate just deleting them and starting over, but I try to remind myself that there is beauty in flaws and imperfections. I don’t ever want my blog to become the source of stress and anxiety so I try to focus on the fact that it is a creative outlet and my space to be myself, unapologetically!

    I think you look beautiful and am so glad you shared this outfit! It’s funny, I have a post that is almost identical to this one drafted on our blog. It’s amazing when we take a step back and take another look at something we once though wasn’t ‘good enough’ we see the true beauty that was there all along.

    First of all, you are not alone. I do it too. I often stop myself at the moment when i remember i do want my readers to see me as accessible and relatable no matter what. It is a tough job to want to put yourself out there to be judged everyday by total stragers, but at the end of the day, confidence and beauty shines through….even in photos. This post and your photos are so empowering. Look at you, you are smiling and you look amazing. You are your own kind of beautiful and you embrace it well. We are all created differently so, hey!
