20 random facts about me!

Happy Tuesday Beauties,

Today, I decided to open up a little bit about myself. I’ve always been a very private person and putting myself out there has been a huge step for me.  Even though I try as possibly as I can to refrain from posting about my private life here, I still feel like somehow, a part of me is been revealed through each post that I’ve published… and to be honest, this journey has thought me a lot about myself that I didn’t realized existed, and the amazing opportunities that I’m encountering are such a blessing!

– Below are some random facts about me.

1- I love basketball and I played in high school and college. That is something my husband and I have in common! We played for the same school and the same team in the national league. one of our engagement pics themes was “Love & basketball”.

2-  I’ve worn  prescription glasses since I was little. You would always see me with my glasses on and people who have known me for a long time usually wonder if I still wear them or not. As a matter of fact, I still wear them, but I try not to rely on them all the time. I wish I could do contact lenses but I tried them and didn’t like them. Who knows, I might give them another try.

3- I’m the oldest of 4 girls, and I remember those days when the pressure of being a big sister can be frustrating; but, in all things, I give thanks; and everything I am today, I owe it to my awesome parents for being amazing role models!

4- I don’t really watch much TV. I’m always missing out on a lot of good shows. I try to catch-up on some of my favorite one every once in a while, but nowadays, I feel like I have so much more to take care of than sitting in front of a TV. I get it… I have to relax and unwind, but I usually prefer to read, listen to cool music or take a hot and relaxing bath instead.

5- Math or Literature: Literature. – Definitely literature!

6- I love cooking and trying new recipes, but I also enjoy trying new restaurants. The whole dining out with my family never gets old for me!

7 – I’m obsessed with interior design and decorating. I would redecorate and revamp my house every season if my budget permits it! 🙂

8- I don’t have the patience for make-up. The truth is,  I’ve never been a make-up person. I’m trying to incorporate at least the basic steps in my routine… steps such as primer, foundation, eye liner, mascara, lipstick or lip-gloss… and I feel like it’s a lot of process. I get easily overwhelmed with all the videos on Youtube, but I think I’m still learning from these talented ladies out there. Stay tuned I may just make a post or video about my routine one of these days and I would love your Feedback! 🙂

9- I love writing and I’m always working on perfecting my skills. – I believe for most introverts who enjoy writing, it’s a way to express oneself without uttering any words and not worrying about how it’s going to come out or being perceived.

10- I don’t really follow celebrities or care much about them. – I actually don’t get why people care so much about what Kim K is doing,  how rude and cocky Kanye West is or how untalented and overrated they think Beyonce is. I get that they are celebrities, hence they are bound to be criticized and judged maybe a lot harsher than the average guys on the street, but I feel like society is so much consumed by these people that they are not focused on the many other important things going on in the world.

11- I am originally from Lomé, Togo (West Africa), with French roots. – If you’ve heard me speaking and wonder about my accent, voila! I was told, however, that I do not have a typical African accent (whatever that means LOL), but I have a mix of a french and British accents. Well, at least that’s what they say…

12- I love rollerblading – Thanks to my husband and daughters, I’ve faced that fear and rollerblading became so much fun for me!

13-I aspire to inspire! I love to empower people to step out in faith even when they’re vibrating in fear to live beautifully, fiercely and boldly so they can live their best lives NOW while I assit them in beautifully presenting themselves and  decorating their spaces. It’s quite humbling and  flattering to see people being inspired ( and even imitating ) and I guess like they said, imitation is the best form of compliment right? 🙂

14- I have been married to my wonderful husband for 15 years. We however tied the knot before God and men almost 5 years ago. We are going to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary this August and I still love this man like we’ve  just met!

15 -I was elected “Miss High-School” (equivalent of Prom Queen here) and Miss College” two years in a row (for each) back home. Something I didn’t really care about much, but thinking about it today actually makes me giggle. – Even though I always had a keen sense for style and beauty when I was growing up, I was still that nerd with glasses, always in her books… and teachers’ favorite – not teachers’ pet. LOL.  Even though I was encouraged by friends and acquaintances to participate in our national beauty pagent”,  I never had the guts to. Plus, I was raised in a family that doesn’t really care for and/or believe in this type of activities…  Anyways, as a parent what are your thoughts about beauty pagents and such?

16- Pancakes or toasts? Hummm, I’ve been a toast kind of gal  for as long as I can remember, but recently my husband and daughters are trying to contaminate me with their love for pancakes . That’s all I can say… Lol

17- I speak quite a few languages and I’m fluent in French and English and fairly fluent in German and Italian.

18- I’m a perfume freak! I love long-lasting, womanly, rich-elegant and mesmerizing smells. For years I’ve vacillated between citrus, clean, fresh scent and dark musky ones. One of my all-time favorite perfume is Hypnotic Poison of Christian Dior. I have been using this  for over 16 years and I’m still hooked.  it’s on the dark muskier side. I think Miracle of Lancôme is also an oldie-but-goodie that has a subtle sweet and fresh scent, perfect for warmer days. If you like strong yet very sweet smells that last all day long, you may like “La Vie Est Belle” of Lancôme. Great scent, but a little too sweet/girly for me. – L’Ombre Dans L’eau, Eau Du Sud.. (Anick Goutal) are some other faves. What are some of your favorites colognes or oil scents? Please, do share.

19-Twitter or Instagram ? – Instagram! I have to get more into the tweeting world though.

20- I have 3 beautiful daughters and they are my everything, the “why” behind everything I thrive to accomplish. I don’t only want to be the greatest inspiration for them, but I also want to pave the way for them to become better versions of themselves. Instilling great beliefs in them such as working hard in life, Self-love and self-confidence, living in faith and purpose, is of so much importance for us! The things we leave in our kids are so much important than the things we leave to them. When we teach them the value of  life with purpose, they will most likely work hard to get the things they need and want, themselves!

There you have it! These are very random facts about me and I hope you enjoyed reading and knowing a little bit more about me. If there’s anything you’d like to ask me, shoot me a message.

Thank you and have a great start to your week!

Great Post Edwige. It was nice reading all these facts about you. I love your sense of purpose and how you and your husband desire to raise your kids with great virtues and importance of hardwork. It’s really important for us Parents to do that. It was not surprising to know too that you were urged to participate in Pageants back in college. I’ll will urge you to participate in one even right now…:-)
    Thanks so much for sharing
