Mellow Yellow | The Geneva Dress

Oversized-asymmetric-yellow-dressYellow there beauties. 🙂

There was a time where you couldn’t have paid me to wear an oversized or baggy dress to go out!

Universal-standard-Geneva-dress

They just weren’t my style and I didn’t think of them as really flattering or polished.

The rare times you would see me in baggy clothes would be when I’m lounging in the comfort of my own home or in my night gowns. 🙂

However, lately I’m surprisedly seeing myself, considering oversized or really loose-fit dresses or tops when I’m shopping.

Oversized-asymmetric-yellow-dressI would like to think it’s because I’m being more open to the idea of playing around different styles and fits, taking some risks and stepping more often out of my comfort zone while remaining true to myself.

Well, ladies I think those days when I hated really loose-fit dresses are officially over!

Oversized-yellow-dressI haven’t only found the most beautiful and comfortable oversized dress to date, but I found it in yellow… with Universal Standard

Asymmetric-Geneva-yellow-dressAnd If you’ve been reading my blog for a while now, you probably know that, over the years, yellow has become one my favorite colors, especially in the Summer. (Check out this yellow dress I sported here

Choosing a piece from Universal Standard website was a tough call… In a good way of course!

Universal-standard-Geneva-dress They have clean, define, and minimal styles. If you don’t know, Universal Standard is a modern and elevated essentials clothing brand for women sizes 10-28.

Still undecided and/or uncomfortable with selecting your (plus) size? No worries! They do an amazing job helping with sizing on their website.

The company prides itself in setting the standard in a way that women do not have to limit their style and choices anymore because of their body size.

Universal-stanfard-plus-size

Inaguarbly, Universal Standard has to be one of the few clothing companies who consistently cater to women sizes 10 to 28.

For me, it was the perfect timing discovering and trying out this company. I’m at this point in my life where I needed to venture a little more in brands that offers pieces that are not only comfortable and stylish, but pieces that also fit all my curves in the right places. 🙂

Well, thanks to Universal Standard, this experience was possible and It was love at first sight when my package was delivered to me!

Oversized-asymmetric-yellow-dress

I first fell in love with the white, neat and minimalist packaging and then I couldn’t resist the delicate and soft feel of the clothes I picked.

Oversized-asymmetric-yellow-dress

Undeniably high quality garments without compromising size or style.

Oversized-asymmetric-yellow-dressFor someone who usually or always  would stay away from oversized or baggy clothes, I was pleasantly surprised seeing myself falling in love with this dress.

Oversized-asymmetric-yellow-dress

The color is just perfect and the material is so soft and comfortable and has just the right amount of stretch to it!

The overall feel to touch is amazing and for the first time ever, I really did fall in love with such a loose-fit dress.

For this occasion, (brunch after church with the family) I styled my new asymmetric yellow crew neck dress with a black belt to cinch my waist for a more define and dressier look.

I opted for these striped sandals to elevate the whole look a notch without taking away the free-spirit vibe that I got from the dress.

I can’t tell you how many times I was complimented and had to jot down where I got the dress, but what I can tell you is that I felt very beautiful, confident and magical in this dress; so much that I had to wear it to a barbecue later on in the same day.

Ever wore a dress and felt so good and fabulous you don’t want to take it off? Yep, that exact feeling! And I bet it’s no surprise to you that I’m already contemplating getting the Geneva dress in all colors!

… And when I do, rest assure that I will share with you guys how I style them; but in the meantime, I want you all to stay tuned, because I have one more piece from Universal Standard that I can’t wait to share with you!

So, what do you think? is this a yes or a no for you? And if you’d like me to share with you how I styled this same dress in the same day for a casual outing, comment below and I will do just that. As always thank you for visiting me and have a great start to the new week!

Love and light,

Edwige, keep wearing yellow which you love because it is such a gorgeous color on you and this asymmetric loose dress fits you beautifully. I love the accessories you chose especially the bag and shoes – stunning! And I loved that you cinched the waist. Thank you for linking up with me last week. Hi Edwige, U look beautiful in this dress. I wouldnt describe it as baggy although it is designed to come out a little then go back in but its not full-on-ugly baggy like some old lady dress lol! U look really good in it and i love the bright colour it suits u really well and ur bright sunny personality. U paired it really well with those hot shoes and its true like someone else commented the hemline is really classy- the whole dress is classy and subtle elegance really. I love the pics and of course ur beautiful smile. The pic of u by the door is hot as is the third from last with ur hand on ur hip giving a sexy pose and working the camera looking gorgeous lol!! Ur a natural! 😉 x x x x

Awww also too kind! Thank you! Yes, you’re right it’s definitely not that baggy. I guess I was being a little too dramatic about it. It really is a classy and elegant dress, and very comfortable. I love it! I’m glad you love those pictures. I will keep them coming 😉 Thank you.
