I hope the new year is off a great start to many for you, and if you’re only starting to get in the swing of things, you are only human and I’m proud of you.
If you are like the rest of us, you’re obviously praying and planning for a successful 2023! The thing is, if you’ve been doing the same thing years after years and you’re not seeing the desired results, darling, I hate to break it down to you like this, but something must change; that’s why I put together 10 important habits that I think you must adopt if you haven’t yet.
Check them out below and let me know if you can relate to any of these.
10 things to do for a successful 2023:
1- Discuss starting a new business, investing, gym, healthy lifestyle, self development with your friends.
2- Take a risk this year. Whether it’s in business or your personal life, take a leap of faith.
3- Train yourself to take nothing personally. Most of the time it’s not about you, it’s about them. This will keep you sane.
4- Don’t chase money, go after the freedom that comes with having money. Two different goals.
5 – Put that idea into action; and don’t worry about looking silly or stupid. Noah looked like a fool until it started to rain.
6- Be uncomfortable for a few months to be comfortable living the life you want to create for yourself.
7- Learn a new skill, a new language, do something different or you will be doing the same thing that is not bringing you happiness for the rest of your life.
8- Not everyone is called or meant to be an entrepreneur. If the 9-5 is working well for you, awesome! Be you and do you!
9- Don’t tell people more than they need to know. They can guess, lie, misinterpret or say whatever they think they know.
10- Whatever wrong you’ve done before, make peace with it and let it go. You are not perfect. You are capable of making mistakes. Stop hiding from the shadows of the past. Don’t be trapped in the darkness of shattered memories. Let the light shine through and shine upon you. Forgive yourself, because it’s the only way you can start again and do better.
What resonates with you?
Thank you for reading and share this with someone today.
Only a couple weeks into the new year, and I can feel around me all the vibes and energies everyone is putting toward making 2023 an epic year. It really feels refreshing to see how mindsets are been shifted, and people are claiming more of what they believe they deserve. You have to believe it to achieve it, guys. Let’s keep this momentum and, together, we will thrive.
New Year’s Resolution.
In all transparency, It hasn’t really sunk in for me that the new year is here. It feels more like a continuation and if I have to be honest, I haven’t really sat down yet to jot down my goals. I’m hoping to do that this week. By the way, how are you doing with your new year’s resolutions or goals so far? The word on the street is that people are not really obsessed with new year’s resolutions as they used to be back in the days. In fact, I have written about this a few years ago and I have also shared with you what I have been doing instead. Who remembers anything from a couple months ago, let alone a few years ago though? 😀 Don’t sweat it, refresh your memory HERE!
The Word Of The Year
I’m sure you have heard about choosing a word for the year. This basically means choosing one important word that resonates with you and try to live life by the word. Some examples of words of the year could be: Intentional- You’re vouching to be more intentional with your actions this year for example. Discipline.- You’re working on being more disciplined with your daily habit. Evolve – You believe that in 2023, it’s all about evolving for you and you are willing to do what it takes to get you there… and so on and so forth.
However, if you’re still fond of new year’s resolutions and it’s been working great for you, stick with it, darling. We do what works best for us, and the French will say: “On ne change pas l’equipe qui gagne.” If you do feel like you like the idea of choosing a word of the year and for the sake of trying something new, go on and read about choosing a Word Of The Year.
Something to consider
Choosing a word of the year has been working well for me for the past years, but I have read about something that has sparked my interest and gives another perspective on goals and, I wanted to share that with you. Before I get to that, let me remind you to join my VIP newsletter list if you haven’t yet, because I have shared what I’m about to share here withyou with, my newsletter friends and I received some great feedback. So take a quick second and join now. I promise that I will never spam you. In fact I must say, once you’re on that list, you may regret not being on it sooner! 🙂 –
Anyways, back to what I wanted to share with you guys about the new perspective on having goals. Don’t get me wrong, having goals and writing them down or having a vision board will never go out of style. New ideas or trends may pop in here and there, but let’s make it clear that this post is no way shaming the idea of having goals and using all means necessary to achieve them. The secret sauce here is what most people fail to understand. What truly lies between your goals and actually achieving them, is the commitment you make to form a daily habit that enables you to get closer to achieving these goals, one day at the time. Does this make sense? If not let’s go a little deeper. Let’s talk about the difference between goals and commitments.
Goals Vs Commitments
Simply put: A goal is the end result… something dear to your heart that you want to achieve (your deepest desire), such as running a marathon for instance. – On the other hand, a commitment is small habits or rhythms of life that put you in a position to get there. In this case, running four miles five days a week to prepare for the marathon.
Do you see where I’m going with this? We all want to achieve our goals, but not everyone is consciously committed to put in the work! In order for us mere humans to achieve our deepest desires, we do have to commit to the small daily habits that will eventually lead us to the final destination… our dreams becoming reality, That being said, in my book, goals are widely overrated and commitments are majorly underrated!
“Goals are the desired end result, but only commitment to a working process gets you there!“
Here are my two cents about setting goals: Dream big, but set realistic goals. Commit to the work and the small daily habits. Be disciplined and be patient. Don’t take the whole new year new me too seriously. It’s still the same old you, maybe with a truer you.
Whether you choose to stick with new year’s resolutions, choosing a word of the year , having a bucket list, just having rules of life or seeing the new year as a continuation to your last phenomenal year, there’s no right or wrong to this. Just remember to be present and enjoy every day as it presents itself. Don’t take life too seriously… Sometimes, you just have to go with the flow and trust God’s perfect timing.
“Goals are the desired end result, but only commitment to a working process gets you there! “

life has been extremely busy on my side of the hood, and I have been missing in action. It’s hard to believe that we are already past the halfway point to the end of 2021. How are you guys doing with your yearly goals? All I can say is that I’m grateful for both the blessings and the lessons. If there’s one thing that keeps coming to me as I sit and reflect on my goals, it’s “God’s timing is always perfect timing”. Society will have you believe that you must run against the clock to achieve your goals or to keep up with the Joneses, but trust me, it doesn’t have to be that way. We are all in our own race at our own pace. Keep believing and keep working hard (and smart) but trust the process, and if you are a believer, trust God’s perfect timing! If you’re not, trust the universe perfect alignment.
As much as I would like to think that you care for my words of advice or encouragement, I also know that most of you beautiful people are here for the fashion… So let’s talk about this floral pants suit! 🙂
Believe it or not, it has been sitting in my closet for over a year now. I have never gotten around to styling it. I’m not really sure why, but I do know it’s a keeper.
I have received a lot of compliments when I styled this set a couple of months ago. The floral prints are very eye-catching. The pants were a little too short for my liking; and while I know the cut was meant to be an ankle cut, I just think that for the ladies on the taller side of the spectrum, it’s not necessary the ideal. The best part about this set, is that it looks expensive while it’s definitely not. It was a great Target steal; and it was well under $100. Talk about a steal!
What do you think of this look? Would you wear it?

“The hardest part about the business is minding your own.” – Drake
A lot of people are side-tracked because they go through life “rubbernecking”. – They are overly concerned about what other people have going on in their life whether it’s good or bad… but how is that serving you?
I pride myself for developing one of the most lucrative skills, which is how to stay focused on my own dreams, goals, and aspirations and most importantly leaving other people’s affairs to them. After all, how is that serving me?
Sometimes, we get so fixated on other people, and we end up missing the beauty and the blessings that are apparent in our own lives.
Today, I encourage you to take a moment to breathe in deeply, and to be grateful for all that you have. What the others have, what they look like, or their success is none of our business. Be grateful for who you are and what you have, and then ask for what you want, need, and deserve. Gratitude is a magnet for miracles.
Now onto this fabulous outfit that I shot a while back, when the weather called for turtlenecks and Winter fashion accessories such us this faux-fur scarf. We have been seeing a lot of monochromatic looks, but not often do we see bold ones. I love every piece in this outfit, and putting them together turned out to be fabulous, and I’m here for it. What do you think?

The funny thing about getting older… your eyesight gets weaker, but your ability to see through the BS gets much better.
My momma used to tell me that no matter what you say or do, people will always talk about you, or speak ill of you… and it’s fine, because such is life. Just do you.
Mama was right! I may not fully understand then, because I was younger and maybe naïve, but today, with accrued experience, I do! In turn, I teach my kids the same important values my mother has taught me and I speak words of encouragement and positivity into them every single day. They may or may not fully understand or grab it today, because they’re still young and naive, but it’s okay. I know I’m raising them to grow and glow into strong, beautiful, and kind women and leaders… As they do so, it will make more sense to them, as it does to me today.
People are going to judge you no matter what you do. Be kind, be loving, and do all things to the best of your ability… and if they do judge you, they’re going to judge you on your best! – Just Do You.
